Somehow unable to set this up.
Not working for me, do I have to change any setting from my hosting account for this.
Sorry I was not online til now.
@Ayoidan Yes, You will have to go into your domain registar and change your name servers that cloudflare gave you. The url for name server they give will be something like Jane.cloudflare.com & joe.cloudflare.com (usually I get norman and elsa) in your domain registrar, log in and pick the nameservers (Manage name servers) delete the name server in the fields to use cloudflare.com's name servers they gave you.
They can't use the domain's default name server, they (cloudflare) have to use their own. Basically cloud flare is like a service that re-routes your domain site, through their site and gives it apps to use as well as boosts your speed, has great analytics and so on.
I would love to see your site, cool check out mine as well if you like paganbook.space :)
Hi Ana,
I have done all of this, but visitors can't find my site currently. Check it, afrohigh.com, it doesn't open. CLoudflare says the fault should be with my host. https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003014512-4xx-Client-Error#code_404
I have contacted them but somehow I don't think the fault is with them because the 404 page that shows up doesn't look like their 404 page. I use Fastcomet hosting.
I don't know where to turn to at the moment.
.......
Anyways, I tried CloudFlare's apps, lovely features! I added the Shepherd app(to guide visitors through my website), a Marquee app (turns page title into marquees in the browser), Title (which allows you add many headers to a page with a scroll effect). It's been fun. I now wonder if one of these apps isn't contributing to my website being off at the moment. Thanks for the tip!
@ayoidan Ok let's see if I can help you.
1. Go to your domain name's login page.
2. Enter the Name server page there.
3. Add the cloudflare name server's they give you where the name server for the domain name is. You do not need their name servers right now.
4. Save the configuration and return to cloudflare, like any propagation it could take 48 hours.
--------------
1. On Cloudflare, make sure your config looks like the picture I included.
2. You need to set up two cname records on Cloudflare to be able to use cloudflare. (Click on DNS)
cname = your socibd.com url like afrohigh.socibd.com
cname =www = afrohigh.com
is what you would put.
3. Click save and it should work, but may take time to show up.
** Your domain name will allow the cloudflare nameservers to point your domain through cloudflare.
Its a bit confusing, if I can help please let me know.
what servers did cloudflare give to you?
So my host sees this
when I sent them a message that my visitors are seeing a 404 error page and according to CloudFlare, the issue is with the origin server.
But this is what my visitors see when they visit afrohigh.com
This is my current cloudflare set up, done by my host,
I noticed the www isn't set to afrohigh.com so I changed fixed that and now this page comes up
Lol. Never had such issue with DNS.
It can be confusing, and you don't need all the A's in the beginning.
Just keep the CNAME'S ON THE RECORD.
You shouldn't need the Txt and the A's and all of that. and the MX record because mail comes to the socibd name, you don't need all that.
@Tina she is also good with cloudflare and such more.
If it's a bit all too confusing, then you can delete your site from cloudflare and go back to your host's name servers and all.
But it should be the MX and all the A's that are causing the problem, because the A point's to the host name as an IP. That IP isn't cloudflare its your host's IP. You will need to just use CNAME. That is all you need I am pretty sure.
It does not matter where the domain is bought from, they all can render this way, you don't need to buy anything extra either. Mine was bought from godaddy.com (paganbook.space) and it's going through the CNAME just fine.
YOU ONLY NEED THE TWO Cnames, delete the others.
Also do not worry about SSL with your host. Cloudflare has a secure universal ssl they will auto give your site.
