@Tina What do you think about Socibd ID?
Back in the early or so, days of Ning, Social Paradox Parody, a username system of a sort was created where, platform wide, people had the same ID. They could manage and join networks at ease without having to type in their most sensitive information like email address, password all the time. The networks had automatic directory support meaning anyone looking for new groups belonging to a mega structure of a website platform, could just join them by filling in specific profile information. This is how many websites became not only invitation friendly, but search friendly as well as member friendly as every site works together to bring in members to a platform.
What I like about the system is the integration. What I dislike about it is nobody could branch out from such a setting if they are not into a social mood where everyone on one network joins the other. Yes it is great for expanding an existing user base, particularly where friendships can be made and kept because your ID is still active. However, the bad news is, this puts a lot of strain on platform admins to have to monitor things such as spam, comment control, activity because everything is all interrelated.
What if there was a way, similar to how Dolphin Connect works, where people could set up a mini network directory with nitch networks. Not only members could be imported, but also all network posts, friends, messages and other content like files, media and their albums, along with categories and other settings. If members and or administrators had the ability to optionally link their content with more than one network and could control it through a unified interface, it would give people the functionality they want without having to recreate it. But it also gives people the ability to post individually to one place or the other and also provides administrators a way to check out other members interests. By bringing people closer together, we can make and ensure our interests can always stay at heart.
The cool thing about integration is it can provide a space to grow where only emptiness resides. I do know directory based websites can cause issues for security as well as the ease of access someone can find you, but having it as an option for individual websites who keep in contact with admins across socibd shouldn't be too much of a problem if people are looking to truly bring out the community in people, not a limiting network identity. Keeping your difference could be the default, but so could making a similarity as people can truly thrive where they stumble across something somewhere they get to really enjoy with support and people to help as needed.
Providing a Socibd would give members the ability to take with them their content on the go. Networks require the space to grow as a dedicated set up, but they also bring with them people who enjoy community needs so manually approving a specific mutual ID on two or more networks to be able to use as each admin does this, provides the ability for members of one network to join another with ease. the more admins who belong to a local directory, the more people can submit requests for approval to integrate their profile information with an existing ID. A request for approval would involve one of three possible scenarios a network manager could set up.
1. Requests are based on individual needs. A user who wants to use their ID from an existing Socibd network could choose login or signup using Socibd iD. They provide the website address, username and password to login with their name on said network similar to how Facebook profile information integrates with custom websites of registration.
2. Requests are handled on the admin side of things. An admin approves a request by another admin to integrate specific information. Approved requests if accepted show up as network posts, and new users populate the members area with their content if they are not yet a member.
3. Requests auto approve as necessary. With an emphasis on social integration, anyone who wants to integrate their own posts from multiple networks while signing up in bulk for new ones could do so through a unified interface.
Variations on the theme could also be possible. I think it was the best system which worked for a lot of people because they don't have to start over from scratch to build what they already have as existing data stored on a server itself. This is especially useful for paid networks or community websites as such because it means if a website for some reason does not get paid, or shuts down, the existing members still has their profile and content saved to add it to a new website, or better yet, start their own on Socibd! That means if a member wants to remove their content manually, disabling a network on Socibd doesn't mean they have lost all of their friends, posts and files. It means they can sign in and access them when ever, but will not be able to make new ones, or better yet, could start a Socibd website and as admin, be able to invite friends using Socibd to their website. If admin of the disabled website, they could invite all users, import all content and set related networks settings if desired. The idea is in this day and age nobody has things to lose.
