Even though I like text chats, I do like the ability to offer my members video/audio chat. I am looking into arrow or comet chat in the future possibly because skysa is now unreliable, or another chat bar solution, but in the future I was wondering if socibd plans to have a video chat as well as audio solution with its chat bar?

Its expensive I know, but one of the best features of facebook is its chat. Maybe something to look into?

    chat, video/audio chats

How is Skysa unreliable? I haven't used it in years. What about tiny chat?

A couple of months ago, skysa's apps like the chat and the im went down, with no word to customers on anything, nothing by twitter, email or anything on an outage, for two weeks!

Emailing support did nothing. Anyway also, they up and deleted my gmail account for no apparent reason, with no warning, because I was smart and decided I would cancel my paypal subscription with them, but continue to pay on time by adding money to my account up front. They didn't like that because they couldn't run the auto payment, and then charged me with an outstanding balance to the wrong email. They also tried to double charge my card for more than the 4.95 I had subscribed too, and tried to charge me 8.00 instead and it wouldn't work, because they can only charge me 4.95.... duh its a subscription service. Can't charge more than the client subscribes for lol

I like tinychat, for a chat room solution, but I like chat bar solutions, like cometchat... because of the theme liquid on socibd, skysa won't use what it uses on spruz or buddypress or oxwall, you have to sign in to the bar and that works but not for friends online or online map... but its useful for other apps. Friends online will work and allow video chat, but it will not auto detect your friends online like it does with spruz and other sites.

Maybe there is a way to incorporate google hangouts on the site in the future. API is amazing lol

@AnaMassien Well my only complaint with Skysa is their chat feature is basically flash based. I think html5 chat works much better and cleaner. Have you heard of rumble talk or rocket chat? They aim to provide similar functionality. Sorry to hear you have had this experience with Skysa. Spruz owns Skysa and so their support sucks in general.

It's not really skysa or spruz, its someone who didn't know what they were doing and tried to commit fraud on a client. I don't hate either company really. I have heard of rumbletalk but not rocket chat. I am considering rumble talk in the future.

I kinda miss old chat room sites where you could go in and talk about whatever and everyone could make friends so easily. lol

We'll definitely add the audio/video chat feature, and i think we will use WebRTC.

@Tina I've heard that that is a good solution. Expensive but a great solution.

I really like Iflychat.com for a pop up chat like facebook but you can only use it as a plugin for scripts like oxwall or buddypress. Its free version only allows 10 people and one main room.

@AnaMassien I don't know what sites those are, if any?

@AnaMassien I've used Iflychat their support is shot. I recommend not going with them as i personally am very dissatisfied with the way it is set up. It is also very expensive and it has hard limits which can impact the chat admin if present. It is also very limiting. You can't use it without it being integrated with an existing website platform and it does not do cloud hosted platforms. It has no video chat, has no smilies, has no custom chat rooms, has no ability to edit or delete messages or post a status, has no ability to ban anyone from using it, has no ability to add moderators, has no ability to customize it in any way plus you have to add its code to a part in your database which is not something Socibd offers. Bad idea in general. I'd rather use Tinychat Chatwing Chatbutton Live Shoutbox or some other chat script any day over Iflychat.

@ElsharaSilverheart wordpress.org self hosted allows a social network called buddypress. It's a plugin, think wordpress blog converted into a small microblog like facebook or twitter. Many of thousands of plugins for buddypress. large fun playground lol

Oxwall.com I recommend not going with them. Crappy tech, crap period. lol we do not like one another at all.

I liked Iflychat just for how quick and small it was but alas it requires an api and I am not sure if socibd could be compatiable with them.
